Dennis Berg, chairman of the
Anoka County Board of Commissioners, spoke at the Chamber networking lunch
September 23. Berg spoke on a variety of topics and took audience questions.
He said Anoka County has had to make cuts in response to the recession and
this may unfortunately result in property tax increases. Berg said the new
Northstar commuter rail line from Big Lake to Minneapolis is a long term
investment and he is hopeful that ticket sales will pay for at least one
third of its cost. Anoka, Ramsey and Elk River are in the running as sites
for a new veterans clinic. Berg said a decision will be made in a few weeks.
Berg also addressed ideas as to how to bring more businesses into the St.
Francis area. He said it is a matter of marketing potential businesses to
come where the employees live.

attract new customers and retain old customers, all while ensuring profits
exceed costs. She emphasized that small changes in the right areas can pay
off in the long run. To learn more about ActionCoach and the services they
